Studentersamfundet in Trondhjem invites students and graduates to an open idea competition with the aim
of designing a chandelier for Rundhallen at Samfundet.
Background
Samfundet wants to give Rundhallen a new life, by creating a unique chandelier that contributes to a
welcoming welcome to the house.
The competition
Generally
Studentersamfundet in Trondhjem wants proposals that contain illustrative material, which can be used
in the process towards a new chandelier for Rundhallen.
These can participate
This is an idea competition for students and young graduates. Both Individuals and groups are invited
to participate. There is no registration or registration ahead of the competition. All participants
must be under the age of 35 and it must be a maximum of 5 years since the study ended.
Language
Information will be available in both Norwegian and English.

The competition is organized and financed by Studentersamfundet in Trondhjem.

The task
Participants will submit a proposal for a unique chandelier that will highlight Rundhallen as a
welcome hall. The proposal should include:
- Visual representation that easily shows the design of the chandelier
- A brief description of the idea behind the design
- Dimensions
- Suggestions for material
Guidelines
- Financial feasibility
- Technical feasibility (construction and mounting)
- Must be able to be attached to the fastening device in an appendix, as the chandelier cannot be fixed to the ceiling.

Easy to understand illustrations and drawings that clearly convey the idea, as well as good solutions to the task.
The emphasis
Design, feasibility and economy.
Submission guidelines
Material should be delivered digitally as PDF on A3, optional page count.
All pages of submitted material must be marked with project names, participants' names should be excluded.
Technical drawings are not a requirement.

Anonymity and submission
All material the jury consider will be anonymized.
File names should be “Project Name_Light Crown.pdf” and should not contain any other identification.
Contact person, telephone number and name are added to the body of the email upon submission. The e-mail
must also contain a list of the following information: Name, age, study, year of study and any examination year.

Profilgruppa is committed to ensuring the anonymity of the participants and will forward
anonymized material to the jury.
Ethical guidelines for the competition
There shall be no communication about the competition between the jury and the contestants.

Jury
The jury for the competition consists of:

- Rundhallen responsible in the Profil group

- Magne Mæhre
- Deputy in The Finance Board at Samfundet
Premiere
The jury disposes of a prize pool of NOK 50,000. They will evaluate all submitted proposals and the
money will be distributed on the top three proposals.
Use of submitted material
Samfundet reserves the right to use and revise all material submitted in connection with the competition,
including the use of all or part of the concept in combination with other ideas and suggestions from other
participants in the chandelier competition as a basis for further work.
The participant (s) retains the copyright to their drafts.
If an idea is further developed, submitters of that idea will have the opportunity to participate
further in the process.
Samfundet reserves the right to reject all proposals.
Samfundet will not sell the ideas further or profit from the ideas.
Exhibition, publication and announcement
Exhibition and publication will be announced in late January.
Deviations from the competition program
Submitted material that violates anonymity or has material deficiencies in the submitted
material will not be assessed.
